Bank of Singapore appoints new Global Head of Legal and Regulatory Compliance

Bank of Singapore has announced the appointment of Mr Samuel Huen (范庆)as Global Head of Legal and Regulatory Compliance (集团法律与条规遵循总裁).

The new appointment takes effect from 2 October 2023. Mr Huen will report to Chief Executive Officer (首席执行官) Mr Jason Moo (巫毅盛). He will be made a member of the Bank of Singapore’s management committee.

Mr Huen assumes the responsibilities from Global Head of Legal Mr Eric Teh (郑恩林) and Global Head of Regulatory Compliance (环球首席合规官) Mr Adriel Loh (卢光伟). Mr Teh will retire in 2024, while Mr Loh will focus on his role as OCBC’s Group Head of Regulatory Compliance (监管合规小组主管). To ensure a smooth transition, Mr Teh will continue as an advisor till March 2024.

As the Global Head of Legal & Regulatory Compliance, Mr Huen will be responsible for the full spectrum of legal and regulatory risks across Bank of Singapore and its subsidiaries globally in Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai, Luxembourg, United Kingdom, Malaysia and Philippines.

Mr Huen, a Singaporean, joins Bank of Singapore after spending 18 years with UBS AG where he was a member of the Singapore management committee and led Group Legal Singapore in the last six years. Concurrently, he was the Head of Legal responsible for the Global Wealth Management business in South Asia and Japan, including the credit and products legal teams in Hong Kong. He also previously oversaw the Taiwan Wealth Management Legal team.

A seasoned financial industry professional with more than 20 years of experience, Mr Huen started his career as a Wall Street lawyer in the United States of America where he represented various leading global investment banks and corporate clients.
