The Head of Investment Banking at Nomura India Steps Down from their Position

According to sources which have informed Reuters, as further reported by The Economic Times, Utpal Oza, the Head of Investment Banking for Nomura in India, has resigned from the company.

Amit Thawani, the Managing Director and Head of Coverage Investment Banking, has reportedly taken over Oza's role. It should be noted that Nomura has not responded to requests for comment.

Over the past few years, Oza has played a significant role in deals such as the sale of ASK Wealth Management to Blackstone and Thyrocare, a diagnostics firm, to healthcare company PharmEasy. The sources also mentioned that Oza has no plans to join a competing firm and will oversee the transition at Nomura in the coming months.

This marks the second major reorganization at Nomura India this year, following the appointment of a new Head of Equity Capital Markets in January.
