State Street Global Advisors announces appointment of Hong Kong Head of SPDR ETFs

State Street Global Advisors has announced the appointment of Joanne Siu as Head of SPDR ETFs, Hong Kong, effective immediately.

Based in Hong Kong, Siu will oversee the SPDR ETF business in Hong Kong from a distribution perspective, focusing on the distribution of SPDR ETFs in the Hong Kong market, coordinating distribution engagement for the firm’s institutional and financial intermediary clients in Hong Kong across capital markets, product and infrastructure. She will report to Meaghan Victor, Head of SPDR ETF Asia Pacific distribution at State Street Global Advisors, the firm reported in a press release.

Joanne’s solid track record in the ETF space and local know-how will help strengthen our relationship with clients and continue to grow our SPDR ETF business in Hong Kong,” said Victor.

State Street Global Advisors manages four Hong Kong-listed ETFs, which recorded net inflows of USD1,889 million year to date, reports the firm.

Siu has 15 years of experience in the asset management industry and specialises in ETF sales and distribution. Prior to joining State Street Global Advisors, she was Sales Director at Jupiter Asset Management. She previously held positions at Samsung Asset Management and BlackRock. Ms Siu started her career at State Street in the asset servicing business. 

State Street Global Advisors is a pioneer and leading provider of ETFs, having created the first US-listed ETF in 1993. In 1999, it launched Hong Kong’s first ETF, currently the largest equity ETF in Asia ex-Japan. Additionally, it also launched the first Australia-listed ETF in 2001, the first Singapore-listed ETF in 2002, and the first Asia Pacific fixed income ETF in 2005.
