RBC Wealth Management strengthens Asian leadership

RBC Wealth Management has made several senior appointments to its leadership team in Asia, including appointing Tho Gea Hong, head of wealth management in South-east Asia to the extra role of chief executive, Singapore branch.

In addition, Mike Reed is the new managing director, head of distribution strategy for Asia. In this role, he will develop geographic and client segment strategies and drive the implementation of growth-focused sales and wealth planning initiatives. 

During his 18-year tenure with RBC, Reed has held leadership roles in Canada, the US and most recently the UK as head of multi-family offices.

Further, Chen Yang is the new managing director, head of business strategy in Asia, responsible for implementing business strategies to position the business for sustainable growth in an evolving marketplace. He brings to this role seven years’ leadership experience with RBC.

Meanwhile, Stefan Mueller joins RBC Global Asset Management as managing director, next generation asset management. In his new role, he is charged with exploring and pursuing the asset management implications of blockchain. He was previously chief operating officer for RBC Wealth Management in Asia.

For RBC Wealth Management, other recent arrivals in Hong Kong and Singapore include: Derek Leung as director, relationship manager, from ANZ; Rita Yeung as director, relationship manager, from EFG Bank; Cherry Lee as director, Greater China, from RBC Personal & Commercial Banking in Toronto; Timothy Cheng as associate director, relationship manager from Westpac; and Irene Ng as associate director, relationship manager from ANZ.
