Northill Capital appoints new CEO

Waypoint Capital (“Waypoint”) has announced the appointment of Cyrus Jilla to its senior leadership team, becoming Northill Capital (Northill)’s CEO.

In that capacity, he will seek to grow the underlying Northill investments and add additional managers to its portfolio while completing the integration of the Northill platform within the Waypoint group as a whole, according to a press release.

An accomplished operator and investor, Jilla has a highly successful track record in assessing strategic investment opportunities and building and growing investment businesses. He also has a successful history of working with family investment platforms that have a multi-generational outlook to businesses and investing. Until recently, Jilla was a President at FIL (Fidelity International Limited), the parent of the global asset management business, where he had primary responsibility for FIL’s proprietary investments, reporting directly to the Chairman.

Jilla started his career at Schroders, later joining Bain & Company where he became Managing Partner of their London office. He later spent several years as an Executive Board Member of De Beers Group SA, at the time a family-led business.

Ernesto Bertarelli, Chairman, Waypoint Capital, said “While Cyrus’s initial focus will be on Northill Capital, we aim for him to have a broad remit over the long-term to help support and develop Waypoint’s other investment programmes. Cyrus is an industry leader with a range of significant global experiences that combine to make him an ideal partner within our firm as we expand our presence in the asset management marketplace. I am confident his highly analytical and sophisticated approach to investment appraisal, capital allocation and performance management will make an immense contribution to the growth and development of Waypoint in the coming years. His appointment is another demonstration of our ability to partner with best-in-class individuals and I am delighted to welcome him as a colleague as we continue to grow our investment enterprises.”

“I would also thank Gordon McNair, who stepped in last year as the interim CEO of Northill Capital, for successfully leading that business during this period. He will assist with the handover to Cyrus, and we welcome him returning to his principal role as our group Chief Financial Officer, with a renewed focus on his significant duties there and reporting directly to me,” added Bertarelli.

Cyrus Jilla, CEO, Northill Capital, said “Waypoint Capital is a dynamic and ambitious private investment firm whose entrepreneurial and innovative approach to business is compelling. I am immensely excited and privileged to join the Waypoint team at this important juncture in the firm’s development. As a first step, I look forward to working with the Northill Capital team to build on their strong achievements. With Ernesto’s vision and leadership driving the overall enterprise, and the collective energy and talents of the Waypoint teams, I am confident the firm can become an increasingly admired and successful investment platform on the world stage.”
