HSBC announces Appointment of CEO of Global Private Banking

HSBC has reportedly appointed Annabel Spring as the firm’s new CEO of its global private banking business.

Spring joined HSBC in 2019, according to an article by Citywire Asia, and is based in the firm’s London operation. She initially joined the firm as its Head of Customer and Products for HSBC Wealth and Personal Banking (WBP).

In her last role at HSBC, she will reportedly be responsible for overseeing HSBC’s product suite, as well as its HSBC Premier and HSBC Jade offerings, alongside the firm’s wealth management and international offerings.

Prior to joining HSBC, Spring was most recently Group Executive, Wealth Management at Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA), a firm she initially joined in 2011. In addition, prior to joining CBA, she was Managing Director and Global Head of Firm Strategy and Execution at Morgan Stanley, according to Crunchbase. Further to this, she has held roles spanning leveraged finance, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate finance during her career.

In addition to the announcement of Spring’s appointment, HSBC has reportedly announced Taylan Turan as Head of Customer and Products for HSBC WBP, in addition to retaining his previous responsibilities as Group Head of Strategy.

In her new role, Spring will report to Charlie Nunn, the CEO of WPB, who said: “Annabel and Taylan will play an important role in accelerating the growth of our business as we continue to invest in our customer offering, technology and products,” as reported by International Investor.

“As we operate in some of the fastest-growing wealth markets in the world, global private banking, a business with tremendous growth potential, is central to this ambition,” Nunn continued.
