Eastspring announces appointment of Chief Operating Officer

Eastspring Investments has announced the appointment of industry veteran Lilian Tham as its new Chief Investment Officer, who will be joining the firm in January 2021.

Reporting to Wai-Kwong Seck, Chief Executive Officer, Eastspring, Tham will be based in Singapore and be responsible for operations, digital, data and administrative support, as well as other strategic growth and change initiatives.

Tham takes over as COO from Jeroen Buwalda, who is moving to a newly created role as Chief of Global Business Services at Prudential Corporation Asia (PCA). Buwalda will focus on making functional and support operations across PCA more robust and future-ready, the firm said in a press release.

Joining Eastspring from Schroders, Tham was most recently the Asia Pacific Chief Operating Officer with oversight of operations, investment services and technology, change and innovation across the region. Lilian was responsible for driving numerous innovative technology and change programmes at Schroders.

Having joined Schroders in 1994, Tham held a variety of technology and operational roles. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Banking and Finance Singapore and actively volunteers her expertise in various industry associations and committees.
