Charles Russell Speechlys launches new Hong Kong Firm

On 1 December 2020, Charles Russell Speechlys will cease to be a Foreign Registered Law Firm in Hong Kong and will instead become registered as a Hong Kong firm.

The move will enable the firm to practise both Hong Kong law and the laws of England and Wales under the Charles Russell Speechlys name in the region, after three successful years advising on foreign law since opening the Hong Kong office in 2017, the firm said in a press release.

Tom Shaw, Head of Hong Kong, Charles Russell Speechlys, said: “We are delighted to reconfirm our commitment to Hong Kong and the wider region for the long-term.”

“We’ve had three very successful years as a foreign law firm specialising in private wealth advice and dispute resolution since opening our Hong Kong office in 2017.”

“Our localisation as a Hong Kong firm is a natural next step towards achieving our ambitions in this important global wealth centre, and we look forward to announcing further expansion in coming months,” he continued.

Charles Russell Speechlys has offices in the world’s leading wealth centres across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, and has provided Private Wealth advice for more than 150 years. The Firm authors the Hong Kong chapters of the Chambers & Partners, Legal 500, and ICLG guides to Private Wealth practice.
