Profile:
Cheryl commenced her career as an Assurance Associate with PricewaterhouseCoopers. She subsequently joined the Real Estate Investments industry, specializing in acquisitions and divestments. Her corporate experiences include Wheelock Properties Singapore and OCBC Property Services. She also had experience in a fintech startup when she headed the Business Development division at equity and debt crowdfunding platform, FundedHere. In her day job, Cheryl is Sales Operations Lead, Asia Sales & Client Management, at WTW. Cheryl is co-founder of The Social Co., the team that initiated the 50 For 50 project in 2014 where they brought together more than 80 young people under the age of 35, and 70 corporations to raise awareness and funds for lesser-known causes such as mental health, suicide prevention and charities that serve those with physical and mental disabilities. Over 2 phases of the 50 For 50 movement, 38 sustainable projects were created and a total of S$4.5 million was raised for 58 local charities. The Social Co. also created Pledge it Forward, an initiative that supported 51 charities that contribute significantly to building a more inclusive and resilient community in Singapore. In their Power to Progress campaign, The Social Co. partnered 5 local changemakers who produced creative content while leveraging on various social media channels to raise awareness for 5 elder-care charities and Samsung Singapore also donated $100,000 to these charities. Last year, The Social Co. organised Restaurants for Good, where 5 restaurant partners each hosted a meal for seniors from local non-profit organisations. In 2020, in light of COVID-19, they partnered with Migrant Matters to raise funds and pack over 3,500 care packs for migrant workers being relocated to various quarantine facilities. Most recently, Cheryl initiated the launch of Shop by The Social Co., an online platform that enables the public to directly donate items to those who need them. Tapping into the global phenomenon of online shopping, donors get to pick the item that resonates most with them and at a budget they are comfortable with, and The Social Co. will deliver their package of love directly to charity groups, and hence, leveraging technology and e-commerce to do good. Cheryl was member of the 20th board of the Singapore Council of Women’s Organisations (SCWO), the umbrella organisation of women’s organisations in Singapore, and she was also Advisor of the Young Women's Leadership Connection (YWLC), a platform connecting young women leaders with opportunities in mentorship and leadership development, networking and community engagement. She initiated YWLC’s flagship community project 100 Wishes, a workshop and activity series to improve the well-being of women and children at local women's shelters. She was also on the advisory board of Architects of Life, a social enterprise that works with youth-at-risk and ex-offenders. Cheryl holds an MBA from Nanyang Business School (NBS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and she graduated from NBS with a Bachelor of Accountancy and a second specialization in Business Law.
