Alfonso Rivolta is Global Head of Wealth Planning at EFG, where he leads the international team of experts working on the most complex wealth and tax planning needs of international clients with a wide reach on legal, tax, insurance, trust, family office, succession planning, asset protection, international mobility and estate planning topics. In touch with (U)HNWIs with a global dimension, and their family offices or advisors, Alfonso also loves the client-facing activity as a result of a comprehensive teamwork with private banking colleagues. Before that, Alfonso had different roles at EFG within Wealth Planning, Private Banking Italy, and as BoD member of the group fiduciary company in Milan, Italy. Active in the private banking industry since 10 years – previously at UBS with different roles in the Wealth Planning function, also assisting Global Family Office clients – Alfonso is member of the Advisory Board on Tax Planning at the banking association’s Studies Centre in Vezia, Switzerland and Trust and Estate Practitioner at the Swiss STEP branch. Alfonso is or has been lecturer on international taxation, estate and wealth planning matters at renowned universities or other institutions, such as the IBFD Amsterdam, the Inland Revenue Authority’s academy in Singapore, SDA Bocconi in Milan, SUPSI and Centro Studi Bancari in Lugano, Switzerland, and the International Tax Center of Leiden University in the Netherlands, where he also was from 2010 to 2017 Faculty member and Academic coordinator of the Private wealth international tax planning course, and previously teaching associate in EU tax law and Tax Treaties. Alfonso published on International, EU, or Italian taxation matters on some renowned newspapers or academic reviews. Before moving to Private Banking, he started his career as Italian Chartered Tax Advisor and Auditor, having worked in Milan, Italy at two top-tier law and tax consultancy firms on tax planning for corporations and individuals. Alfonso holds a combined M.Sc. in Law and Business Administration from Bocconi University, Milan; an LL.M in Corporate and International Tax from CERTI – Bocconi; an Adv. LL.M from Leiden University in International Tax Law; and graduated in and practiced Violin and Orchestral Conducting – nowadays the audience being mainly his wife and his 4 and 2-yo children.
