Dr. Kim is the founder and chief executive officer of Neo Risk Investment Advisors (NeoRisk), a Hong Kong-based investment adviser and fund manager that uses innovations in financial engineering such as quantitative risk models, advanced asset allocation and derivatives to improve investment performance.
Prior to founding NeoRisk, Dr. Kim served as managing director and head of the regional investor derivatives business for Citi Global Markets Asia until his departure in May 2013. The group engaged with a variety of clients across the region covering equity, fixed income and hybrid investment products for portfolio asset allocation, risk management, yield and hedging solutions, and was recognised as the leader in structured investment products by numerous financial industry publications. Dr. Kim originally started at Salomon Brothers (a predecessor of Citi) in 1993, and worked in a number of capacities over the course of his twenty-year career with Citi, including head of regional sales and structuring, and senior equity derivatives trader, both in Hong Kong, and quantitative research analyst in New York. Prior to joining Salomon, he was a lecturer at Princeton University. Dr. Kim started his career on Wall Street in corporate finance at Kidder, Peabody & Co. in 1986. He earned his B.A. in economics, magna cum laude, from Harvard University and his Ph.D. in economics from Princeton University. In addition, Dr. Kim teaches as an Adjunct Professor of Finance at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, is a Board member and incoming Board chair of the Hong Kong International School, and served as a past president of the American Club of Hong Kong.
