Robert MacLellan is the managing director of the leading Caribbean-based hospitality advisory group MacLellan & Associates, specializing in mixed-use resort development since 1997. Robert has undertaken assignments in 28 countries in the Caribbean and Atlantic Islands, gaining a thorough understanding of the hotel and leisure real estate markets across this diverse region. MacLellan & Associates’ services range from conceptual and feasibility studies, through brand evaluation/selection, finance sourcing, and practical design input, vacation home marketing, asset management, appraisals, and expert witness assignments. Robert has a master's degree in international hotel management from the University of Surrey, England, where he majored in hotel design and development with a dissertation on international hotel management contracts. His early work included positions with P&O/Princess Cruises, THF Hotels, Holiday Inns International, and Loews Hotels. Robert soon achieved the position of general manager, working on large-scale mixed-use resorts in England, Spain, and the US Virgin Islands. This proved an invaluable experience in golf and marina operations as well as vacation home management. Today, Robert is a veteran of the industry and has served in several high-profile corporate positions. His most recent contributions to the field include acting as managing director of a UK restaurant/hotel/retail group to drive the turnaround and expansion of operations. As a managing director in commercial real estate operations, he supervised the management of over 7 million square feet of A1 mixed-use real estate in London. As a VP of hotel services, he managed the global logistics of four cruise ships. Robert currently advises the organizing committees of both annual Caribbean hotel investment conferences, CHRIS and CHICOS. His articles appear regularly in regional and international media.
