This is a term which commonly refers to situations where a salesperson misrepresents a financial product to a potential investor, or misleads an investor about the product’s characteristics or suitability for that individual. This is often done by the salesperson omitting certain important information about the product, or suggesting the investor needs the product to achieve a certain objective – yet in fact that is not the case.
