ANZ has appointed a new chief executive officer for its Singapore business at the same time as announcing a new vice chair of its South and South-east Asian operations.

Vishnu Shahaney, previously managing director, specialised lending and loan product for ANZ in Asia Pacific, Europe and America, has been given the top role in Singapore as of October 1.

He replaces Bill Foo, who is the new vice chairman in South and South-east Asia, effective also on October 1.

Shahaney is tasked with continuing to build ANZ’s institutional, commercial, retail, wealth and private banking businesses in Singapore.

Foo, who was chief executive officer of ANZ in Singapore for 10 years, now takes on a broader leadership role for the firm in the region, responsible for building and deepening relationships with key clients, governments and regulators.
