UBS has hired Edmund Koh as Singapore country head and chief executive officer for its local wealth management business, as of early next year.
With more than 20 years of experience in financial services, Koh was most recently responsible for the re-organisation of Ta Chong Bank in Taiwan for Carlyle. Prior to that, Koh was the head of regional consumer banking for DBS.
Gerald Chan, incumbent country head of UBS in Singapore, was head of client relationships in FICC when he was asked to take on the additional role three years ago. He will now focus on his leadership role in FICC. Koh also succeeds Christine Ong in the wealth management position, given she is currently on an extended leave of absence for personal reasons and will return early next year to take on a new leadership position in the firm.
Said Koh: “The recent events in the past few weeks have not changed my decision to join UBS. The fundamental strengths of the bank that attracted me to this job remain unchanged.”
