EFG Bank is strengthening its capabilities in Greater China with the hire of Adeline Chien, an experienced private banker from UBS.
Chien joined EFG earlier in August as a managing director and senior client relationship officer (CRO), along with a two-member team, including one CRO.
Most recently, Chien was a managing director and cluster head, ultra high net worth team, at UBS Wealth Management in Hong Kong. Before this, from 2004 to 2008, she was an executive director and client adviser at Goldman Sachs Private Wealth Management in Hong Kong. Chien has also held senior private banking roles with American Express and Citi.
In line with EFG’s plans to expand its Asian private banking business, it said in a statement that it has grown its number of CROs across the region by around 40% since the start of 2008 to more than 160 today, and that during the first half of 2010 it achieved double-digit year-on-year growth in revenues, profit and clients’ assets under management.
