Citigroup has named Michael Zink as its new country head in Singapore, in charge of the US bank’s institutional clients group, consumer banking and global cards, plus its global wealth management businesses.
The role becomes effective on May 1, although Zink will remain in charge of the Guangdong Development Bank – as he has been since 2006 when a consortium led by Citi bought an 85% stake in the Chinese lender – until a successor is appointed.
Zink has worked for Citi for 22 years, during which time he has held senior positions in markets such as South Korea, Africa, Russia, Australia, Indonesia and more recently, China.
In his new role in Singapore, he will fill the slot left after Jonathan Larsen moved to Hong Kong late last year to become Citi’s Asia-Pacific head for consumer banking and global cards.
